1. Your first name- Suzanne
2. Where you live- on the lovely island of Cyprus in old downtown Limassol . Close to the beach, shopping, cafes, restaurants, work and my sons school.
3. A little about your family life and job (brief or long descriptions - you decide)-I've lived in Cyprus for 5years with my Greek husband and my 8 year old son. What are a Greek and an American (who met in Germany) doing in Cyprus? Enjoying the beach!!! and the relaxed lifestyle. I work as an 'interior architecture' designer/draftsman at an architectural office here and travel whenever possible!
4. Why you are IN a Women of Today Chapter (and which chapter you belong to)-I am the secretary of the Cyprus Women of Today. I joined to make new friends and to learn more about and help the community I have chosen to live in. I try to teach my son about being a good citizen and helping others. CWOT has allowed me to show him first hand (rather than just talking about good intentions) how to help others and be tolerant of other cultures, races and languages and to never stop learning new things.
5. Anything else you'd like to share with all of us out here in Cyberspace!!- Not at the moment. But keep checking the forum for further posts.

Viki - No problem that you didn't tell me about this last night. We'll let our web-master decide where this belongs since we are all pretty new to this forum and operating by the seat of our pants until we get our 'official' class. This sounds like a pretty cool project for anyone who likes to take photos. I'll be checking out the FB page to see who's posting! ![]() |

Please forgive me Mary, for not mentioning this at the board meeting last night, but I know for a fact that there are other Women of Today out there that take pictures, so I have set up a facebook group for this project, and will be mentioning it on facebook, and inviting people. I posted a blurb earlier in 'the lounge' but then i realised that people might not necessarily look in there, so i put it here too. Heres what i wrote in the other post (note to webmaster- you can delete it from whichever place is least relevant):
Tomorrow is the final day of my current 30 days project (30 days of George) I chose an easy subject (my son) as it is pretty easy to take pictures of him- although he is not as easy in front of the camera as his little sister is! The basic concept of a 30 days project is to take 30 pictures over thirty days. It is just an oppportunity to make a concious desicion to take a picture a day ( or three or four if you wnat to pic the best one!). I will be starting another one the day after tomorrow on my daughter (because she would kill me if i didnt do one on her! lol) But i was thinking it would be a great idea to challenge everone out there with a camera to a 30 days project. No subject, just take one picture everyday for 30 days. I'm not sure if we will be able to post pictures on here (help webmaster??) or if we should set up a facebook group where we can all upload our pictures? I think this would be a fun thing to do- specially seeing as we have people from different walks of life, different races etc-i would love to see what interests you all to take pictures of Right, I am hereby throwing down the gauntlet....30 days project....Any takers?? |

1. First name - Tina
2. Where do I live - The magical island of Cyprus 3. A little about family life and job (brief or long descriptions - you decide) - I have a wonderful fiancee who I feel is my best friend and confidant and we are about to embark on a whole slew of new adventures together. As far as my job goes, I'm a registered dietician with 9 years experience in medical nutrition therapy and have my own little business set up. I really enjoy the work I do because it helps people change their lives. 4. Why are you IN a Women of Today Chapter (and which chapter you belong to): I'm in the Cyprus Women of Today because I feel that it is an organization that not only helps you to grow and explore new depths of yourself, but because of the support system and great friendships that have materialized. Everyone pushes you to go out of your comfort zone, but at the same time are so understanding to everyone's needs and changing lifestyles. I am currently the external vice president and women's wellness coordinator. These two positions allow me to gain valuable experience in community service as CWOT does a lot to help local charities and people in need. Also, since I am a health practitioner and passionate about what I do, women's wellness is a place I feel I can adequately contribute to. 5. Anything else you'd like to share with all of us out in Cyperspace!! Don't really have anything to share except that if anyone ever needs someone to listen, I am here for them! ![]() |

1. First name - Mary
2. Where do I live - When I'm in Cyprus, I live a stone's throw away from Viki in the same village - up the road and around the back of the church! But 2 months out of the year I head back to Michigan to stay with family. 3. A little about family life and job (brief or long descriptions - you decide) - Married for 22+ years to William (my favorite person in the whole world!) and have lived in Cyprus for 19 years. We have 3 wonderful children - 2 of whom are now in university in the USA, one a senior and the other a freshman. Our youngest is 14 and is entering the 11th grade at a local private English school. I also have 2 dogs and 6 cats - ranging from 10 years down to the newest one found in the road by my older son back in May when it was only about 4 weeks old. Currently, I'm a stay at home mom with a life long dream of living 1/2 the year in Cyprus (mainly during the winter) and the other half in the USA (during the hot, hot, hot summer months). My plan is to stay with each of my adult children for a month at a time (or until they kick me out - whichever comes first). But first we have to get everyone through school and hopefully the economic climate will improve so they can find jobs!4. Why are you IN a Women of Today Chapter (and which chapter you belong to): Well currently I'm the President of Cyprus Women of Today. Why Women of Today? I was looking around for something more after my daughter went off to university a few years ago. When Trish approached me about WOT, I decided to invest a bit of time in finding out what it was all about and at my first official meeting (April 16, 2009!) became Treasurer. At that point my plan was just to help get the group going because I could see it would be a great way for new people to Cyprus to meet others and learn more about where they are living. I had always thought it would have been great all those years ago when I first came to Cyprus if something like this had existed. NOW I can say, that it's a great organization for anyone who is interested in making where they live a better place and enriching their lives - no matter how long they've been in Cyprus. From past experiences, I thought if you joined a group you had to quit in order to get out of a position. But with CWOT (and WOT) they encourage change and growth and also understand that life happens outside of CWOT! If your circumstances are such so you can't give as much as other times, the other members are still there to support you. What started out as 'two years' for me will probably be much longer because of the flexibility. I love the fact that we can pick and choose which events we want to attend and what areas we want to put our energy into. Pretty cool - huh? ![]() I would encourage anyone who is interested in finding out more about CWOT to come to a monthly meeting and attend a couple of our events to see if we can fit in their lives. 5. Anything else you'd like to share with all of us out in Cyperspace!! Just a couple of thoughts - if you decide to read any of my posts, I do tend to look at most things with a sense of humor. Life can be pretty stressful at times for all of us, so we should enjoy it while when we can. And Trish has done a fabulous job in setting up this web-site, so let's use it to the fullest. |
